More insurance protection (Straits Times)
THE Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is planning to tweak a scheme first mooted four years ago to better protect insurance policyholders in the unlikely event of a default by an insurer operating here. Known as the Policyowners’ Protection Fund (PPF), this scheme would be akin to deposit insurance which compensates depositors when a bank goes bust.
